Reformed Perspectives: A Seminary Called to Serve the Church

Description

What does it mean to be Reformed? How would you answer that question? Would you highlight key teachings such as the centrality of Scripture, covenant theology, and the sovereignty of God, or would you try to trace the history of Reformed individuals and churches from the sixteenth century onwards? Would you look to confessional documents and catechisms, or highlight the contributions of Reformed Christians to their local communities? Would you focus on Western Europe and North America or bring in the experiences of Reformed Christians around the world?

Whether you are exploring Reformed Christianity for the first time or looking more deeply into a familiar tradition, this collection invites you into the conversation. In a series of engaging essays, nine men and women who teach and work at Calvin Theological Seminary take up the challenge of answering these questions. Together, their perspectives help readers better understand the beliefs, history, and global experiences that shape Reformed Christianity and reflect on what this tradition means for Christian life and service today.

Their responses show that at Calvin Theological Seminary, Reformed Christianity is not a museum piece, but a vibrant tradition that prepares people to serve the church and the kingdom of God today.
